FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Classworks, an award-winning Special Education and MTSS solution, added Early Literacy Indicators and Science of Reading assignments to their comprehensive platform.
The latest Classworks back-to-school enhancements enable teachers to easily identify which early literacy skills need attention and deliver the science of reading-aligned assignments to support students.
Early Literacy Indicators
Classworks Reading Universal Screeners, validated by the National Center on Intensive Intervention (NCII), measure early literacy skills in beginning readers. Now, reporting includes key Early Literacy Indicators for students who have taken the K-3 Reading Screener. Teachers can view, at-a-glance, which key literacy skills require more focus. Early Literacy Science of Reading Assignments
In addition to adding the Early Literacy Indicator reporting, Classworks makes it easy for teachers to quickly take action on the data with new Early Literacy Science of Reading assignments. These instructional units address the key early literacy skills needed to become a successful reader. The assignments are comprised of activities that focus on the reading, writing, critical thinking, and listening skills proven to help students reach higher levels of reading achievement.
“The science of reading is a priority initiative that expands the use of proven literacy techniques to ensure all students have the opportunity to excel in reading,” said Joann Waltman, curriculum director at Classworks. “Classworks assessments and instructional units set students up for success by addressing the five pillars of literacy on which the science of reading models are based. Our program gives teachers clear indicators of which K-3 reading skills students may need a little more help with and delivers evidence-based lessons to address those key skills.
