Classworks® Adds Dyscalculia and Early Numeracy Indicators to Its NCII-Validated Assessments
The award-winning program also added early numeracy assignments to address areas of need

Classworks, an award-winning Special Education and MTSS solution, added dyscalculia and early numeracy indicators to its mathematics Universal Screener assessments. In addition, Classworks released early numeracy assignments for grades kindergarten through fifth grade.

Classworks assessments equip teachers with the data to know precisely where students are and quickly identify students who need added support. The resulting data helps teachers identify students at risk for dyscalculia (K-3) and related mathematical thinking disorders.

Early Numeracy Indicators
Classworks Math Universal Screeners, validated by the National Center on Intensive Intervention (NCII), measure early numeracy skills in beginning learners. Now, reporting includes key Early Numeracy Indicators for students who have taken the K-5 Math Screener. Teachers can view, at-a-glance, which key numeracy skills require more focus. Early Numeracy Instruction
In addition to adding the Early Numeracy Indicator reporting, Classworks makes it easy for teachers to quickly take action on the data with new Early Numeracy assignments. The assignments take a research-based systematic approach that includes explicit instruction, guided practice, and formative assessments targeting specific foundational and advanced numeracy concepts including; number recognition, systematic and skip counting, magnitude discrimination, estimation, numerical patterns, and simple arithmetic.

“The Classworks Universal Screener is specifically designed to determine a student’s risk for mathematical difficulty and the need for intervention,” said Joann Waltman, curriculum director at Classworks. “The earlier a mathematical concern is identified, the better and the quicker you can assist students in learning how to process numbers. Classworks mathematics assessments and instructional units set students up for success by addressing mathematical processing, number sense, and operations, and algebraic thinking tasks; which are indicative for further Dyscalculia testing.”
